Clubs and Leagues: Roller Derby

Yes, roller derby is back. Why are you surprised? What took it so long?

Women

For women's roller derby in the city, see the Gotham Roller Derby for info about the six NYC teams (four borough teams and two travel teams). Bouts at local venues are held once or twice a month, in 2018 at the John Jay College gym (West 59th St., Manhattan) and the Abe Stark Ice Skating Rink (Coney Island, Brooklyn).

Out on the island are the Long Island Roller Rebels. Home bouts are held at Skate Safe America in Old Bethpage, Long Island.

In Westchester is Suburbia Roller Derby. Home bouts are at the Yonkers Police Athletic League.

Across the river in Jersey are the Garden State Rollergirls. Their home bouts are held at the Inline Skating Club of America in Wallington.

These women's derby leagues are all members of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association.

Men

For men's metro area roller derby, see the New York Shock Exchange. They are affiliated with the Men's Roller Derby Association. Practices are in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Home bouts in 2016 were held at Skate Safe America in Old Bethpage, Long Island.
